dancing GIANT
General info
It's not a dance company!
Dancing Giant Productions was founded in 2005 in response to the need for a company to exist where artists from multidisciplinary backgrounds could gather to create new Australian cross genre works. The brainchild of Danielle Harvey, Dancing Giant Productions attracts artists of like minds who are passionate about creating living, breathing, energetic works which successfully fuse all types of art, artists and events together to elicit a response from the audience. Since its creation Dancing Giant Productions has grown to also produce events and Danielle consults as a programmer and producer under its moniker.OUR THEATRE PRODUCTIONS:Dancing Giant Productions asks audiences to not sit back and be passive, but rather to engage with what they are seeing. We want you to hate it, love it or laugh or cry at it. Just RESPOND!Dancing Giant Productions invites artists to go all the way, to try new skills, to say what they have always wanted to say, no holds barred. The unique productions and events Dancing Giant Productions chooses to stage study the bleak through to the delicious elements of life, with little time for worrying about popular sentiments and treading on toes. In a climate of political correctness, reflecting on the boredom, the beauty, the horror and the nastiness deep within ourselves and our society through live performance is powerful and timely.Sometimes Dancing Giant Productions just creates something to be enjoyed that is silly, fun and irreverant, like a dance piece!

Danielle Harvey is a clever cloggs!
Danielle Harvey is currently a producer working at the Sydney Opera House while creating and directing brand new Dancing Giant productions. In June 2010 she hung up her glitter-covered hat after 5 years as the Festival Executive Producer of the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras. She had a fantastic final Gras in 2010 with many career highlights including producing the mass nude installation by Spencer Tunick at the Opera House (and a number of other locations around Sydney). 2010 saw her also bring George Michael, Kelly Rowland, Amanda Lepore and Adam Lambert to the Mardi Gras Party. Previous Mardi Gras Festivals Danielle toured comediennes Margaret Cho and Joan Rivers, in vonvos with Rupert Everett and delivered acts like Cyndi Lauper, Olivia Newton-John and Tina Arena for the Party.Whist at Mardi Gras, Danielle had the pleasure of directing many of the Party shows whilst programming the Festival, ensuring a balance between commercial and grass roots events and productions. She introduced many emerging artist initiatives and strengthened the academic and literature content with the creation of Queer Thinking, a day of talks, debates and ideas at the Seymour Centre.Danielle's directing credits include dance shows with Cyndi Lauper, Olivia Newton-John, George Michael, Amanda Lepore, Nikki Webster and Toby Allen. She has also drected many theatrical works including the Great Library Of Earth (2007), Death's Waiting Room (2005, 2002, 2001), Porn - The Musical (2002), Wrong Way Go Back (2002) and The Real Inspector Hound (2000). Danielle was AD on Woomera (2002) and Blind City (2003).Danielle has worked at many places including the Sydney Botanic Gardens Trust and the Australia Council for the Arts. She has been involved in productions that showcased in the Sydney Festival and Adelaide Fringe Festival. Her worst job ever was when she was 15 working at a deli, the boss lady was mean and she had to scrub mould off the cheeses. She's been an actress, waitress (and is very bad at it), a sponsorship coordinator, the general manager of a big silver jewellery company and a clown at kids parties. Mostly she has been a producer, programmer and director.Danielle is a graduate of Charles Sturt University, Barthurst with a BA Communications (Theatre/Media). She can do cartwheels.
I am driven to see Australian audiences access quality arts and for Australian artists to access quality audiences.
